April and May

I don't really have anything to write about, but I just feel like I should say something because I don't want my most recent post to be about something that happened more than a month ago. So what's been happening in my life? Well, for starters... Leyte happened. I went on a five-day immersion with a bunch of other Health Sci batchmates. I don't really want to talk about what happened there. And I probably never will post online about it. So, yeah. Sorry. On a lighter note, Rap and I are now two years old. Well, two years and a month, to be exact. We celebrated at A Veneto Pizzeria, an Italian restaurant along Visayas Ave. It's a really fancy name for such a normal-looking store. The food was A+ though. We got some pizza and a sinfully cheesy lasagna, pictured above.  Delizioso! The pictures above were taken on a day where 140 farmers from Casiguran came to Ateneo for a forum or something. The night before, the organizers noticed that a few of...

S05E01 - "First Day of Classes"

Image
I did some mental counting in my head and I decided that if each semester I've spent in Ateneo were a whole TV series season, then this one will have been my fifth, and today will have counted as Episode 1. But I should probably cut back on the TV series analogies. My life isn't nearly as interesting as Christine Campbell's . (That may or may not be a good thing. I don't know.)       Woke up bright and early and ate a breakfast consisting entirely of two Presto peanut butter cookies. I feel so healthy right now! NOT. But hey, at least I walked to my classroom! After taking a trike to JSEC. u_u          First class of the day was at 7:30, Cell Mol, which is short for Cellular and Molecular Biology. Our teacher seemed nice. She let us off "early" (i.e. at 10:30 instead of 11:30). After that I went with AC, Rap, Jules, and Deo to do the usual start-of-the-season errands... ID validation and the like.    ...

trivial things

Image
Before I start talking about... uh, whatever it is I was planning to talk about, here are some pictures that I should've blogged about sooner: "IT IS DANGEROUS TO GO ALONE! TAKE ONE OF THESE!" This was taped to the huge periodic table of elements outside a classroom in Schmitt in Ateneo. At first I thought it was a Zelda reference, but after looking it up just now I'm not so sure about that. It could be a World of Warcraft thing, or a Dungeons and Dragons thing. Whatever. It's nerdy and adorable either way. What with all the science majors hanging out here, I guess things like take-away paper swords and W.O.W/D&D references are not a rare occurrence. Speaking of nerdy things... Andy cranking it up.  One day for Organic Chemistry, our teacher, Sir Guidote, brought this interesting device. It had a crank on one side and a flat base, and it looked to me like a sealed-up rectangular well. He mixed two solutions in a beaker (I looked it up, and apparently...

nail polish

Image
Guess who just got punished for wanting to get a little girly. Earlier I found this nice little bottle of glittery, electric blue nail polish lying around in the room, and without thinking I smoothed it on my fingernails. For minutes afterwards I thought the effect looked pretty cool, but then it just started to looked really gross and unnatural. So I soaked a cotton in what acetone we had and started dabbing my nails with it, but after hours of scrubbing (okay I'm exaggerating), there were still some bits of blue paint left on my fingers. I'd take a picture and post it here, but who would want to see that? :))       Three days left until I go back to Manila. Does that mean my life is going back to normal? College has never been a normal thing for me, but coming home isn't exactly a routine activity either. I just don't know what's normal anymore. I feel like a lame Eliza Thornberry. With disgusting bluish fingernails. . . . ...

random MS Paint thing of the day

Image
If I had to pick a book genre I'd have to stick to writing for the rest of my life, I'd definitely pick children's literature over anything else, because in a kid's book, anything can happen. Dogs can talk, trees have faces, and Harry Potter is real.  That drawing you see above is the result of a little experimentation with the new features of MS Paint, and of course a little extra time. (Halfway through, I got lazy and decided to type out "the magic paintbrush" instead of actually writing it.) A short explanation: Kit Something is a bright young girl who always gets mistaken for a boy. (Her name's not really Kit Something. I just couldn't think of an appropriate last name for her, so until I do, she will remain Kit Something.) She finds a magic paintbrush one day, and with it, she brings paintings and drawings to life.  ...That sounds like an episode of SpongeBob SquarePants, doesn't it. :| Well screw you. Plagiarism is legal now.

SATURDAY FAIL

Image
I forgot the PAWS volunteer orientation was today. Instead of signing myself up and learning the ropes around the Animal Rehabilitation Center, I spent the whole day in my dorm, playing Pokemon Leaf Green on a GameBoy emulator. And to think that this was the day I'd been looking forward to since classes started! :| alsdfj aslf jas; zas a[sklf as; Looks like I'll have to wait until next year for the next orientation. :| In other news, it's been two weeks into the semester and it's still been pretty good. Mr. Pulan actually complimented us ("us" being the whole of my English block) on a job well done writing our personal essays. He said something along of how he could see why we were placed in Advanced English, and that we had some real talent. But then he said that we can't just be satisfied with knowing how to write well. He said that we had to push ourselves intellectually and take on more complex topics. This, I think, is one creative ploys of ...

random sad pictures of the day, and a long back story

Image
#1: Lolwhut . Chick lit is a real genre now? . . . #2: My guitar of five years finally bit the dust today. I have no idea why, but when I picked it up this morning from its usual place behind the mirror, its bridge was already snapped off and the strings dangling out of place.   Aasdfkj asolfjwoijsld; sakj fw ;.  My mom says I can buy a new one here in Manila, but I'll go take it to a repair shop before I even begin to think about replacing it. We've been through so much! :'( And now for a little nostalgia: The guitar was actually a present from Santa Claus back in the December of 2005. It was a gift meant for all of us kids, but I, being the most musically inclined in the family (and also the most talented and probably the smartest), took to learning the guitar in the summer of 2006.  When I became a freshman in high school, I brought the guitar with me a lot, and whenever I did, my friend Marc Paul (whom I mentioned in another guitar-related post and is probabl...

Random Picture of a Capo of the Day

Image
Chekitawt. I realized today that I forgot my guitar capo at home (a capo is something you clamp on to the neck of your guitar to increase the pitch), and so I decided to use what my friend Marc Paul taught me many years back - resourcefulness! My makeshift capo is comprised of a pen, a hair scrunchie, and some tissue to tighten the "capo".  And in case you were wondering why I am posting this really lame blog entry, well there's nothing much to write about really. And if you're reading this in a computer terminal in the library, say hi! :D

doing nothing

Image
I'm too lazy to write anything coherent right now, so enjoy   stare at this picture I randomly pulled from my "Block XX" folder: (click to enlarge!) . . . I really miss my block! :'( Above is one of my favorite pictures of us, taken by Ate Pia (I think) at the first general assembly we ever attended - the Health Sciences Society's High ! I love it because we all look so happy and crazy and loony balloony :D

random picture of the day

Image
Check these out! Collectible Boys of Block XX playing cards! (I mean the playing cards are collectible, not the boys.) And, no, they're not really playing cards. They're just cut-out pieces of cardboard with pictures of two different Block XX boys pasted onto each one of them. They're supposed to be played like dominoes, where you a line up the pieces in such a way that the same pictures are adjacent to each other. In this case, you line up the cards so that a boy's face is right... next to... his own face. :| Right. Anyway. It was Jani, Karl, Arthur, Deo and Andy's group that came up with this idea for their report in Chemistry. It was all about stoichiometry, the study of the quantities involved in chemical reactions, which you probably don't care about, so I better stop yapping about it now k thx bye. (scheduled post)

sourmath, and RPOTD

Image
If one of your friends (or enemies) recommends a site called "Sourmath", SPIT IN HIS/HER FACE AND NEVER SPEAK TO HIM/HER AGAIN. Kidding. But seriously though, just DON'T. Sourmath is this prank site that plays a clip of three old, fat men in a shower. When you try to close it, a message box saying "Hello!" will appear, and when you try to close that, another "Hello!" box will appear and you have no choice but to keep clicking and clicking and clicking while the three old men shower in the background. *shudder* It is NOT pretty. Your only escape route is to press Ctrl+Alt+Delete and End your browser. At least, that's what works for Internet Explorer. My friend Jillian is having a LOT of difficulty ending the darn thing, and she uses Firefox. She said she's really close to crying now! Poor Jill. Sweet, innocent, unsuspecting Jill. . . . Anyway guys. Here's your Random Picture of the Day: This is Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen,...

random picture of a hologram of the day

Image
For those non GMA and ABS-CBN watchers, here's the situation as I know it: One of these stations got hold of this hologram-transmitting technology thingy, and then the other one got jealous and decided they needed one too. Which one of them got it first, I have no idea, but now the two stations fight about it ON AIR, showing it off and trying to see which station's is better. It gets SO annoying. Just give us NEWS already! (P.S. I advise you to click the picture for a larger and more hi-def version, and then right-click THAT and Save. In a few month's time, this picture of the hologram of the 15th Philippine President is going to be PRICELESS!)

not-so-random picture of the day

Image
Good morning world and all who inhabit it. I'm gonna be heading off soon to my Ama's (grandmother's) house for a late Mother's Day lunch, but before I leave I wanna get this up on the Interwebz . I made this picture (sans the cartoon girl, courtesy of glitter-graphics.com) because I just find it funny how people are always getting Chinese people mixed up with Koreans. I'm half-Chinese, but wherever I go, I get dumb questions like, "Are you Korean?", "Do you understand Tagalog/ Bisaya ?" (click to embiggen) "Ching chang chong" - Why do people always say this when they mock the Chinese language? They just end up looking stupid themselves.

a re-introduction

Image
For those of you who have just tuned in - Hello! My name is Aimee and this is my blog, which you may or may not have found by accidentally clicking a link somewhere on Yahoo! Answers. See, I originally inteded for this blog to be a documentation of my life when I move to Manila for college ("Oh, that explains the strange header!"), but right now I'm still home in Cagayan de Oro City, so there's nothing much going on yet ("Oh , and that explains the nonsensical posts!"). My flight to Manila is on June Something. (Sorry, but I don't feel very comfortable with disclosing the date and time of my flight on the Internet. It's not that I don't trust you, dear, sweet reader - it's just that I fear the information will be put to malicious use by some creep who knows how to make a liquid bomb.) Anyway, that's about it. My sister's downstairs yelling that it's time for lunch. I shall now leave you with the Random Picture of the Day. I...

random pic of the day

Image
Posting a sad random pic today because I'm not feeling too dandy. (see: previous post ) - Twilight comics - 'tis a sad, sad day for mankind. - I understand that some people will have difficulty understanding this post. I mean, somebody's probably reading this right now and thinking, "I thought she'd post a sad picture, but this is Twilight! " So, to all those who STILL think Stephenie Meyer is the best writer in the world, kindly do yourselves a favor and click here , you poor little saps.

random photo of the day

Image
Found in a surplus shop somewhere here in Cagayan de Oro. Note the name of the toy at the bottom of the box. - Interchange 2 =Transformers 2 FAIL . You can probably guess by the frequency of my Random Photo posts that I don't have anything good to blog about.

Candy, and random picture of the day #3

Image
... Lately I've been spending a lot of time online on the forums of Candymag.com. It started out as a way to promote this blog (lame, I know), but now I'm getting really hooked! Some of the girls on Teentalk (that's what the Candy forums are called) are just sooo nice. I met a lot of girls who are going through the same thing I am - being "from the provinces", as Ateneo puts it, and going to study in Manila. I've even been making dorm plans with two of my new friends! Haha! Do I sound like a giddy little kid or what. :D Okay, time for a random picture! Boycott colored chicks. This picture was part of my campaign to stop the buying (and selling!) of colored chicks. Those poor little critters!

random picture of the day #2

My second Random Picture post! (I admit I'm kind of losing sight the real reason why I put up this blog in the first place) April 2, 2010 - White Island, Camiguin

random picture of the day

. Am I taking this blogging thing too seriously? Because last night I dreamt that while I was sleeping, my mom accessed my Blogger account and then edited one of my blog posts! Pshh. Whatever. Sure, my mom helps me out when I write important essays and such, but online, she leaves me alone to make all the grammar and speelling erors i wantts. Anyway, on to my main point. I'm going to try to start posting picture each day here on my blog. . Why am I doing it? For teh lulz. Here it is: my first Random Picture of the Day found in a certain thrift store in a certain popular Kagay-anon mall. Mmmm. Donots.
