Halloween

Image
Happy Halloween! :D I got a haircut today, and I now resemble Mulan... back when she was pretending to be a man.  Well, whatever. I drew a cartoon just to show you (below), but if you really REALLY wanna be scared, click this link for the actual comparison picture . Okay. Happy Halloween, everyone :)

Halloween eve eve

So it's the night of October 30, which means I've exactly one week of sem break left to enjoy in Cagayan de Oro before it's off to Manila again for school. I've done nothing productive at all these past two weeks, and actually I don't intend to in the next week. But you know what? I've got absolutely no  regrets. My thinking is that the unproductivity of my sem break will compensate for all the hard work I'll be putting into my second sem! :D Ehh? Ehh? :D         Anyway. Halloween's coming up, and just what is transpiring in the Capinpuyan household this time of year? Well, like most Pinoy families, we're not doing anything. However, I can't say the same for the city of Cagayan de Oro, which seems to have suddenly joined in on the Halloween festivities.        See, my worst nightmares have come true, for today in Cagayan de Oro City, A STARBUCKS WAS BORN. It sprouted up from the ground in the middle of a parking lot in Limketkai Mall.

schedule, and amazing news

So today was enlistment for freshmen. I got fencing as my PE! Not bad, I think, considering I was in the last batch, and people from the last batch hardly ever get any good PE's. So, anyway, onto the good news: My mom called the BPI Foundation earlier and told them what my QPI was, and they said that it passes their requirements for my scholarship! In other words, I still have my scholarship, which means - I'M STAYING FOR TWO MORE SEMS!!! Oh, praise God. I'm so extremely happy right now, you have no idea. You have no idea. :D

the r-word

Image
As you may or may not know, the Special Olympics are coming up. In connection with this, the good people behind  http://www.r-word.org/  are campaigning for people to stop using the word "retarded" as a derogatory remark in our everyday conversations. Ditto what Burt Hummel said in that episode of Glee - the one where Finn calls Kurt an F-word. Please go check out  http://www.r-word.org/  and pledge to stop using the R-word. Let's help promote a new R-word: Respect.

doing nothing

I'm too lazy to write anything coherent right now, so enjoy   stare at this picture I randomly pulled from my "Block XX" folder: (click to enlarge!) . . . I really miss my block! :'( Above is one of my favorite pictures of us, taken by Ate Pia (I think) at the first general assembly we ever attended - the Health Sciences Society's High ! I love it because we all look so happy and crazy and loony balloony :D

sem break so far

Image
I guess that I should be updating this blog more often, now that it's sem break and all, and the Internet connection at home is a bajillion times faster than the lame SmartBro plug-in I use in Manila. But the thing is, there's nothing much going on in my life right now that anybody would really want to hear about. For example, would you really be interested in knowing that for my first week home, my siblings and I are devoting our vacation time to finishing three titles in the Nancy Drew PC game series? Or that I haven't been out with my friends at all, and that the first time I've seen any of my classmates so far was today (four days into sem break), by the sheer coincidence that they were playing basketball at school while I was picking up my brother? Naw. Didn't think so. But I guess I should elaborate more on that last part. See, if you haven't already guessed by the depressingly tremendous amount of time I spend on the Internet, I'm quite the home

O HAI GAIZ! :D I'm home na pohwz! And I'm also too lazy to write anything. So, here are pictures from last Friday and last Saturday :D  Left to right: Daryll, Me, Larz, Jason, Sean. Picture taken by Dahra, whose condo this was taken in! (Sorry we didn't get a good picture of you D: )   UBE Sem-ender night at Katips Grill! Check out our awesome superhero masks. I'd always wanted to do this light painting thing! (I'm the <3 )   P.S. I miss you, Block XX!

exploration

Friday (which was yesterday) marked the beginning of sem break for me. Officially, though, my last test of the sem ended at 7:30 on Thursday night, so I guess you could say my sem break started then, but I had been too depressed from English work to do anything besides curl up in front of my laptop and eat chocolate.         Yesterday, however, I woke up feeling quite chipper. I had made plans to wake up at 5 and go walking around Ateneo, exploring those places I'd made mental notes to check out during the semester. However, I wasn't able to sleep until 3 AM - probably because of the chocolate. So instead, after waking up at 10, I decided to go settle some unfinished business. B-) (No, just kidding. I didn't do anything cool that morning.)       So first I went to settle this hold order that I just discovered I had in my AISIS. It was from the Associate Dean of Student Affairs. When I saw it, I panicked, thinking it might have had something to do with my terrible p

last friday of the sem

I'd always counted on my cellphone to wake me up every morning by playing some Manila radio station at precisely 6:30 AM, but for four days this week I found myself scrambling out of bed around 7:15. Rather than pin the blame on my phone's not going off, I have a feeling that I just sleep through the radio alarm when it comes on. That would explain why, when I was dreaming once about being in my lola's house in Cagayan, that infernal Korean song "Gee" started playing out of nowhere. And, yes, much Korean-style dancing was involved.        Today was different. The alarm ring tone was "Miracles Happen", by Myra, and from the moment I was able to separate my eyelids, I knew it was gonna be a good day. For one thing, today was the last Friday of the sem. And, for another, today was our last English 12 class!!!!!!! (Under normal circumstances, I would add thirty thousand more exclamation points to my previous sentence. However, today doesn't ex

the bonfire

Image
I'm pretty sure that all the other universities have gotten tired of us congratulating ourselves about the 3-peat, what with all the "Sorry, FEU" fanpages and online hype about the bonfire. But we can't help it. We're a proud bunch.  Make that a proud, and extremely happy bunch, because last night, we got a huge bonfire, and today, we have NO CLASSZ POHWZ!!!  At around 6 PM I ate dinner at Teriyaki Boy with my blockmates. It wasn't my first time, but I was still pretty ignorant about a lot of things - like WTH does sashimi mean. Alyssa was pretty unfamiliar with the menu too, so we ended up having what Tin was having: something guyusomething ramen. Twas good! :D Afterwards, I attached myself to Jason (remember, my high school classmate from Kong Hua?) and we went to Pizza Hut with his girl friends from the dorm, plus Larz (also my high school friend from Cagayan). I'd already eaten dinner, so I ordered their chocolate cake + ice cream. Omnomnom. Do I

Okay, one last post, and then I'll stop using up a perfectly good Saturday afternoon browsing the Internet to go hunch over a notebook and a calculator and solve logarithmic functions instead. Something's just been really bugging me lately. I was surfing through Facebook when I stumbled upon this site.  http://freestylenecklaces.multiply.com/photos/album/15/Freestyle_Necklaces_15th_Set_SOLD_OUT  Go check it out before reading any further. See, what this business does is they take random pendants (erasers, highlighters, toys) and then attach them to chains and then pass them off as accessories, displaying them online for the typical Manila college student to gawk at and exclaim at and then scramble over to buy. What I don't get is how these necklaces, which are basically just plastic army toys dangling from a chain, are able to sell for P140 a piece. P140! That's exactly four (delicious) rice meals from Happy Homes. . . . On a related note, I keep telling my fri

3-Peat

My Countdown Countdown SEM BREAK'S COMING!!! Can you tell by the huge and gay countdown timer at the top of this post? It's only TWO WEEKS AWAY!!! Goodbye Manila and hellooooo SUBIC! (please) In other news, ATENEO WINS! It's a three-peat! I'd never paid much attention to UAAP games before, but when you're studying in Ateneo, you just can't help but embrace the sports culture. The campus itself is decked out in posters of the basketball players wearing Nike and tarps saying "GO ATENEO BLUE EAGLES!". Even the teachers suspend their consultation time to watch games. In other, other news, I just took what is probably the worst test of my life last night, Mr. Pulan's notorious English 12 critical thinking exam. Ugh. Worst. Test. Ever. I guess that just goes to show what a critical thinker I am. Hurrr durrr. Twilight is better than Harry Potter, durrrr.
