According to my laptop clock, it's 1:08 in the morning, and here I am, online and sprawled out on the bed in this very awkward and highly uncomfortable position, writing a blog entry and balancing my laptop when I should be asleep and dreaming about nice things that are preferably unicorns. Run-on sentences are becoming my thing.      2010's coming to a close. I would like to make a comment on how my year went, but my mom always tells me to be careful of what I say, because other people have had an awful year. I don't want to hurt their feelings, or make them feel any sadder, so I will refrain from 2010-related discussions. Anyway, I think you can get a sense of how the year went for me by reading through all the lame things I have posted on this blog, even if I haven't exactly been writing every single day as I had originally intended to.     Do I sound somber or what.     Here is an ugly picture of a beautiful place, to brighten the mood: Sunset at a b

Rejoice, blogdom, for our friend Jason has rejoined us tonight! ( Click this to go to his blog! ) He wrote this really long(-winded) blog entry about how his year went, and I most especially liked the paragraph in which he says lovely things about me. Hahahaha! Pasted below is the portion of his post in which he describes me and our other wonderful friends. You need not read it (you probably don't know any of these guys aside from me). I just thought it was so nice, it was worth reposting. (original post here ) *Aimee- AIMEE. My bestfriend since high school. Serious and Kind. Good Writer, adviser, friend, ETC! Aimee is anyone’s friend.  And for lack of a better word, Aimee is really nice. (True Story). Oh and she’s a rockin’ guitarist, a fellow blogger, and simply AWESOME AWESOME AWESOME. (and yes aim, I consider you a HOE) [Hoe being used as a term of endearment - Aimee] *Gerard- He’s the loud one in the group. Seriously HYPER and fun-loving. He’s unpredictable when he’s hype

blog. blog. blog. blog. blog. blog. blog is to me as;sklrj;klsdffasdjksfdkl; Jessica says I should CAPITALIZE the first letter of every sentence. And I'm like, "Why...?" This culture of blogging escapes me. As I look around at the table, I notice the feeling of superiority that accompanies typing on a laptop while everyone else does other dumb stuff. Whatever it is they're doing. Absolutely irrelevant. Why? Cause I'm on a laptop, brownies*. Blog. Blog. Blog. Blog. Blog. What about vlogs... Oh hey. There goes delightful* AC. Talking about nonsense wonderful* things. Probably calling me a homophobe or a sexist. Now I have nothing else to observe. Hmm... Thinking. Thinking. Wonder how much time I have left wasting Aimee's battery.  . . . Today, Ateneo finally set us freee! Well, free until January 5, that is. :| You'd think that being a very Christian university, Ateneo would have let its students run off by now in order for us to... I don't know, bett

the last weekend in Manila, 2010 edition

I have done absolutely nothing today. I repeat. NOTHING. Nothing productive, that is, except maybe tidying the room up a bit. My things are no longer invading my roommates' desk spaces, and all the dust bunnies I've been nursing since the start of the sem have been set freeeee. What am I still doing in my now dustless dorm room when it's so close to Christmas and I should be at home with my family watching Christmas specials on TV, you ask? Well, Ateneo's break starts on the 23rd, which is only five days away from now. Until then, I've got school for three more days.  Sigh. There's no one to talk to in my room. Ara and Jean are both in their respective homes now (UP Diliman's Christmas break started on the 18th), so I'm left with the- :| There's this lady that sits on the bench outside Ken Afford, which is right beneath my room (both Ken Afford AND the bench, I mean), and every night she starts yelling at nobody in particular. She's yellin

dormitoryana

So this was the scene earlier in the dorm. Architect de Guzman, the man who founded Dormitoryana, passed away last Saturday. Today, a Mass was held for him right in the dorm lobby. I never knew the guy personally, but he must have been a lovely person to have created such a wonderful home for us probinsyana (and city) girls. I love my dorm. I know what I said about it being a terrible place to live in at first (I've expressed my disdain for it in some of my earlier blog posts), but now I'm sure that I've picked the best place to live in in all of Metro Manila. The rent is cheap, the people are delightful, and a walk to Rustan's is like a walk to your own kitchen. (The dorm's prayer room, by the way, is a must-see.) I've also come to find that despite the tiny corridors, the gaping hole in one of the walls, and the strange-looking mirror out in the hallway, there is no place in all of the big city that's cozier or more homey than this humble little r

atheism

So I was scrolling through the posts on my Tumblr dashboard, happily eating some coffee caramel ice cream (detail relevant), when all of a sudden I see this: "People who don't believe that God exists are worse than Evil. Even Satan himself knows that there is God." So I guess that atheists are evil, subhuman creatures now because they have views that are different from our own. Wow. Your thoughts?

friday night incoherence

The following events are the main constituents of my day: Cram-wrote the introduction and conclusion of the first draft of my research paper today. :| It sucks so much it puts black holes to shame.  Attended a Gawad Kalinga talk for Health Sci majors with most of the block. I know now that I made the right choice in choosing Health Sci and in coming to Ateneo.  And, hey. Is it me, or did the speaker at the GK talk just say that they needed more men and less women to volunteer because women only give birth? :| First (and last) Ma 20.3A long test of 2010!!! I think I did pretty well for someone who still doesn't know what a derivative is (Yeah yeah yeah, it's the slope of the line tangent to the graph, yadda yadda yadda. What is all that even supposed to mean!? :|) Kapelikula with the Rapster! We watched three awesome short films from director Raymond Red. Also, I recommend that all of you come to next year's Kapelikula. It is a very wonderful and rewarding activity bro
Thank you so much dear God for my family and my friends. They make me so happy, I just love all of them to bits. All of them. Thank you.

Under the Stars

Okay, last night was one of the best nights of the year. SRSLY. I'm still a bit hungover from the awesomeness of last night (and this morning) and I'm too lazy to write coherent paragraphs. So instead, I will resort to the greatest thing ever invented in writing: bullet points! Oh, but before I do, I guess I should take the time out to explain about Under the Stars for the benefit of the portion of my readership outside of Ateneo (that portion being comprised entirely of my parents, and possibly my sister). See, Under the Stars is this annual event organized by the Loyola Film Circle (which I'm an active member of!) where lots of people gather at a grassy field in Ateneo and lie on mats or blankets to watch a movie under the stars. There's also beautiful Christmas lights, band performances, student films, and a bazaar. It's a really big event where lots and lots of people come. However, this year, I'm guessing the numbers might have decreased because of
