bored in HR

Edit: I accidentally posted this in another blog on July 31, 2015 Thanks to the wonders of technology, I am now blogging in Human Resources class! I know I'm a horrible person for not paying attention but hellooooo it's a lovely Saturday morning, and who wants to study on a Saturday morning??? Yesterday (and the past few days, actually) was filled with activities. My sister Caitlin arrived in Manila on Tuesday, so I've been spending my after-school time hanging out with her and Dad. It's gonna be so different having her around. Yesterday we went plant shopping at QC Circle. We wanted to visit the memorial as well but we found out it was closed for renovations until August 19. So we spent the entire time (as in FOUR HOURS) just looking at plants! There were SO MANY!!! I found a fuzzy indoor plant to keep in my condo, while Cait found herself a rose cactus for her condo. Dad bought a millenium flower plant for home. And I bought him a Miracle Fruit seedling! Miracl

White feet

Couple of days ago, while I was trying on shoes with Mom and Cait at the market, a tindera tried to pay me a compliment. Tindera (in Bisaya): Maganda yang slippers na yan Ma'am. Mas nagiging puti ang paa mo! Ugh I hate this obsession with whiteness. But thanks for the compliment, lady. Your feet aren't looking too black themselves.

Edge of Reason

I spent most of yesterday reading Bridget Jones's Diary: Edge of Reason , the second book in the Jones trilogy. It was a lot longer than the first book, I think nearly twice the number of pages. And the first half of it got boring in some parts, since Bridget seemed to be stuck in an endless cycle of 1.) moping about her boyfriendlessness, 2.) complaining about the gaping hole in her wall, and 3.) being annoyed at her mum ringing her up. In that order.        But the second half totally made up for it. Just when I thought Bridget would be stuck doing the same things over and over, waiting for her love interest, Mark Darcy, to save her, Helen Fielding sends her on a life-changing trip to Thailand, where she eventually gets involved in a drug syndicate and gets locked away in Thai jail for 10 days. Amazing. Then when Bridget returns to England, she finds a mysterious golden lipstick-like object with her name engraved on it waiting on her doorstep. Mark Darcy shows up and p

weird dream

Had a weird dream last night. There was some sort of event happening in the Kong Hua gym and Rap  was there, entertaining some Taiwanese people. It was raining hard (I think a callback to that scene in Pride and Prejudice , which I watched yesterday), and when I went outside the premises of the school, the beach was suddenly there. More scary is that from the beach, I was standing before this massive wave that towered over the whole city. It gets weirder: The ocean was perfectly still, as if someone had hit pause on the world, and the towering wave was actually not wave-shaped but a perfect 3D oblong. And there was lightning inside. Real-life physics obviously do not apply in dreams. Anyway, there was a group of people floating next to the wave, a bunch of tourists who were sticking their hands into the suspended lightning-water oblong and playing with the lightning inside it, much as one would play with a plasma ball. On the ground was a guy in black, coaching them on how to touch
