April and May

Image
I don't really have anything to write about, but I just feel like I should say something because I don't want my most recent post to be about something that happened more than a month ago. So what's been happening in my life? Well, for starters... Leyte happened. I went on a five-day immersion with a bunch of other Health Sci batchmates. I don't really want to talk about what happened there. And I probably never will post online about it. So, yeah. Sorry. On a lighter note, Rap and I are now two years old. Well, two years and a month, to be exact. We celebrated at A Veneto Pizzeria, an Italian restaurant along Visayas Ave. It's a really fancy name for such a normal-looking store. The food was A+ though. We got some pizza and a sinfully cheesy lasagna, pictured above.  Delizioso! The pictures above were taken on a day where 140 farmers from Casiguran came to Ateneo for a forum or something. The night before, the organizers noticed that a few of...

interesting things

Image
I know I haven't been posting as often as I did when I was a freshman. I guess it's because I've actually made some friends now, and am less of a self-absorbed loser. (Yeah, right.) . . . Interesting Thing #1 SPONTANEOUS SHOOTING Last Wednesday, I tagged along with Vito, Diane, Rap, and Andy for an impromptu filming of a top-secret project (you'll know what it is soon). We had to wait until 6 at night to shoot, because we wanted some darkness. I brought my camera so that I could practice using it (I still haven't gotten the hang of it after a year). Here are some pictures (unedited because I'm too lazy). Rap with a Blizzard (and an ice cream sandwich for me). He looks so dangerous. Night classes JSEC at night A little part of Katipunan (taken from the back of Vito's pickup). A behind-the-scenes of the actual filming It was a pretty cool experience, even if the shoot ended a little early. I'm still a really bad phot...

post V-day blogging II

Image
Econ test tomorrow, doing nothing today. Ehh screw it. My teacher's not gonna give me a good score anyway. So here I am, blogging~ Here's a little recap of the week: Tuesday I thought I had prepared really well for the Statistics exam. But... no. u_u Also, Rap got me a nice edible flower for Valentine's. n_n It's still here, just slightly nibbled on because I wish to preserve it. Andy got all the girls in Bio class (even our teacher, Ma'am Canlas) a nice, long-stemmed rose. Aww. I used to think that Valentine's Day was stupid, and that if you really loved somebody, you would show it to them every day of the year as opposed to every Feb 14. But on this day, all around the campus you could see all sorts of grand gestures of love - public serenades (there was even one that I actually participated in ahihihihi. You're welcome, Karl.), giant bouquets, boys dressed in suits and girls wearing pretty dresses. While seeing them doesn't actually make me f...

the last few days of summer (class)

Hi! It's been a while. I've been pretty busy. You see... Last Saturday I attended a meeting led by the Council of Organizations of the Ateneo (literally the "org of orgs") re: RecWeek details. (RecWeek is short for Recruitment Week (I think). It's the period of time in which you get to sign up for the different orgs. [ Here's last year's RecWeek !]). It was the first time (in college) I'd ever actually attended a meeting for an event of such magnitude, and I felt so official sitting there amongst presidents and chairpeople, even though I was only asked to go because nobody else from LFC (Loyola Film Circle) could make it, and I live so conveniently close by. Anyway, RecWeek this year is gonna be awesome! Everybody join LFC!!! It's a really awesome org with really awesome activities regarding film and love and friendship! Also   Rob Cham  was in it! Do sign up and experience the magic~ that is this org.  After the meeting I tried cramming a bit ...

a normal day

I really haven't been in the mood to write lately. I don't know if it's some brain chemistry thing associated with the weather (they say cold weather causes a chemical imbalance in the brain, making people sadder), but I've just lost the urge to type out the entire proceedings of my day for all the strangers on the Internetz to see. However, upon the prodding of certain friends (hi, Rap and Andy), I. Will. Write. After all, the show must go on, and the uncreative blogger must feign creativity. I don't really know what's in it for you, dear reader, but in writing this, I supposedly benefit from the theraputic nature of blogging. And then there's that other thing about my future grandchildren finding this blog and saying, "Oh look, Grandma wrote that!" (Ugh. How creepy does that sound? Hello, grandkids. Ack! So very creepy.) But what exactly do YOU benefit from reading this? You will have wasted around five minutes of your time, that's what. Fi...

the night before the ACET results

Image
The weekend's here at last. It's been a really tough week.  Bahh, how generic-sounding. I'm not satisfied with anything I've been writing lately. I think I might be going into blogging hibernation. It happens at least five times a year, when I somehow lose the urge to write. Anyway. Tonight, I actually read a book. :O I feel a lot smartyer lolzzzzzzzz Kidding. Tonight was quiet night for me and apparently lakwatsa time for the rest of Dormitoryana. I basically had the lobby, and all its wonderful, charming, rustic kiosks to myself. I decided to ignore my laptop and forgo my usual Friday night routine (consisting entirely of Facebook, Tumblr, and music) to solo a kiosk and have some nice, peaceful quality time with Harper Lee. I wanted to finish To Kill a Mockingbird in one sitting in the hopes of being able to return the book back to Mike tomorrow, but I guess that in the meantime he's going to have to content himself with that huge Chemistry book he (voluntarily!...

schedule, and amazing news

Image
So today was enlistment for freshmen. I got fencing as my PE! Not bad, I think, considering I was in the last batch, and people from the last batch hardly ever get any good PE's. So, anyway, onto the good news: My mom called the BPI Foundation earlier and told them what my QPI was, and they said that it passes their requirements for my scholarship! In other words, I still have my scholarship, which means - I'M STAYING FOR TWO MORE SEMS!!! Oh, praise God. I'm so extremely happy right now, you have no idea. You have no idea. :D

forgetting Wednesday

Image
I'm too lazy to write anything right now. So, I'm filling this post up with pictures, pictures, and more pictures, and then a picture of an ice cream fish. Big, big thanks once again to the anonymous commenter who keeps on reminding me to update this thang. :) (Oh, and you can right-click any picture and open it in a new tab for a better view.) . . . It was  Karl's 18th birthday, and classes were only until 9:30 in the morning. Karl was taking us all out to Yellow Cab in Katipunan. So, having two hours to kill before lunch, Block XX decided to hit the Ateneo Art Gallery in the old Rizal Library. We were greeted by an intriguing piece of art outside the building. "Balete," by Leeroy New, located at the old libe. The "roots" reach all the way up to the third floor! (Also in this picture: the Manuel V. Pangilinan Center for Student Leadership, as seen in the back.) . . .         Inside the library, we went to view an exhibit by artist Kiri Dalena e...

University of the Philippines Diliman

Image
If you are, or have ever been, a high school student in the Philippines, I'm assuming that you know about the Diliman campus of the University of the Philippines, more commonly known as UPD. Because if you are/have ever been in high school, and you  don't  know about this university, then you should be ashamed of yourself. Go curl up in a corner and listen to My Chemical Romance and cry. I am ashamed of you.*      Fortunately, being the good soul that I am, I will provide you a little background about the place. Be grateful that somebody actually had the decency to relieve you of your ignorance and blindness. Yeah, that's right. Just call me The Illuminator.** And, yes, you are forgiven.     UP Diliman is the Holy Grail of universities here in the Philippines. Its entrance exam, the UPCAT, is the hardest to pass (I think it's because of the right-minus-wrong system). Among all the UP campuses in the country, the Di...

RecWeek 2010

Image
Lightbulb moment. Those "light images" I talked about in my previous post? THEY HAVE AN ACTUAL PURPOSE! I am truly sorry, NVM Gonzales, for having thought that they were just there to prettify your narrative. Oh, how wrong I was. Mr. Max Pulan explained to us last Friday that the lights were actually - Wait. You don't actually care about this stuff, do you :| All righty then. Skipping to the next topic! . . . So I haven't updated this blog in a while, but here I am now, thanks to the prodding of an anonymous commenter whom I suspect to be my own mother. Anyway, it's RecWeek here in the Ateneo, which means that it's time for all the orgs to start haulin' in some fresh meat! It's a pretty epic event that the upperclassmen have been psyching us up for since the first week of classes, and now that it's here, it really is super cool! B-) All of us get these RecWeek manuals, which are basically these cool little books that tell you about ...
