dormitoryana
So this was the scene earlier in the dorm. Architect de Guzman, the man who founded Dormitoryana, passed away last Saturday. Today, a Mass was held for him right in the dorm lobby.
I never knew the guy personally, but he must have been a lovely person to have created such a wonderful home for us probinsyana (and city) girls.
I love my dorm. I know what I said about it being a terrible place to live in at first (I've expressed my disdain for it in some of my earlier blog posts), but now I'm sure that I've picked the best place to live in in all of Metro Manila.
The rent is cheap, the people are delightful, and a walk to Rustan's is like a walk to your own kitchen. (The dorm's prayer room, by the way, is a must-see.)
I've also come to find that despite the tiny corridors, the gaping hole in one of the walls, and the strange-looking mirror out in the hallway, there is no place in all of the big city that's cozier or more homey than this humble little refuge created by Architect de Guzman.
I agree, dear -- Dormitoryana really does seem to be a good place to stay. It's really, really affordable, and very accessible. I'm glad you feel at home there.
ReplyDeleteBy the way, make arrangements na with mom re your dress for den2x's wedding!
Bitaw, Dad. It's not even cowboy style, as Auntie Luching said. Haha.
ReplyDeleteAlso, YAY!!! Dress arrangements! Mom said we'll rent one daw as soon as I get back. But, will there be any nice dresses pa kaha available around this time of the year, and so close to the date of the wedding? o_o
Dorms are nice and cozy to live in; especially with your location and the company you have there, I get kinda jealous at times. :p
ReplyDeleteSo ask mom to choose and reserve one for you. She's n cebu but will be back tomorow afternoon.
ReplyDeletehi. i lived in dormitoryana for 7 years (1998-2005), basically all throughout my college years and even beyond it. it's sad to know that arki has passed away. i haven't been to the dorm in a long time and i know a lot has changed since i left because arki was always one who never settled for anything less than his vision for the place.
ReplyDeleteHow much is rent in Dormitoryana?
