blogging as procrastination

Goodness. Why do I always get the urge to write at the most inconvenient of times? (Tonight's answer: I just wanna put off reading the Sociology and Anthropology handouts.) Anyway, I just got back from the LFC Doc & Pub Committee General Assembly. There was so much sushi. Too bad my chopstick control is sub-par. u_u Today for Bio we spent an entire hour watching a documentary called Endangered Tales , which is quite fanciful a name for such a mildly interesting film. When I say "mildly interesting" I mean that the only parts I paid attention to were the parts with actual animals and colorful plants. I think two-year-olds have longer attention spans than I do. Oooh look, a dorm cat! Also today we had Organic Chemistry Lab wherein we had to do all sorts of labby things. The main point of it was to separate and extract benzoic acid from naphthalene. While doing the labby things I was thinking about our ex-Chemistry teacher, Sir Unsay , and about all the other certifi...

a night out

(Have you noticed that when you click the title of any of my blog posts, the tab you opened it with is gonna have the words, "the perils of: [blog title]" written on it? This one says "the perils of: a night out". Which I find pretty epic. That's why recently, I've been making sure to name all my posts with nouns. Yeah, useless information... Please still be friends with me.)        Wow. I had an awesome Saturday. This afternoon, I went to the Rizal Library and finished reviewing for the Chemistry long test to be held on Wednesday. I had made plans with Jason to go out to Kenny Rogers for dinner earlier, and he decided to bring along two of his friends from the dorm, Gerard and Paolo.       Gerard is this guy from my city who went to Oro Christian Grace, a school whose history is closely intertwined with Kong Hua's (that's my school). I think we're the only two Chinese schools in Cagayan de Oro, which makes Kong Hua, like, blood relatives wi...

Saturday

Hello readers, a.k.a. Dad! Sorry for not updating this. I'm waaaay behind schedule. (THANK YOU, crappy Smart Bro plug-in!) So, here's what I'll do: I'll write about today, and then backtrack and write about Friday, then Thursday! Sound good? . . . Saturday. When I woke up this morning I was kind of feeling like P. Diddy (see: previous post ). It was a Saturday, and I had all the time to kill in the morning before having to go take Guidance Testing in the Ateneo at 1 PM. Short on cash, I decided to go to ADMU to withdraw money. While walking towards Xavier Hall, this guy approached me and asked, "Miss, saan ba yung canteen?" I must've stood there open-mouthed for quite some time, because he repeated his question. "Uh, uh..." I stammered. DUDE, I'm a freshman. Can't you tell? I reek of freshie. I told him to make a left at the MVP basement, climb up the stairs and then look for the Gonzaga cafeteria. He thanked me and was on his w...

Two more weeks...

... until I board that plane to the Big M. I get butterflies in my tummy whenever I think about it! The way I see it, it's sort of like riding a roller coaster. (Before you throw up from the cheeziness of that metaphor, relax, because I'm NOT going to say, "Life is like a roller coaster: you get your ups and downs." I'm NOT, okay!) Anyway. It's sort of like riding a roller coaster. You don't really want go. Heck, if it were up to you, you'd pass the time just by hanging around the frozen bananas stand instead of being strapped down into your seat at the scariest ride in the park. But, you're doing it. You're riding the Space Shuttle. Because your older cousins are making you... Or at least, that's what you think. Deep down inside though, way, waaay past the big lunch you ate that's threatening to resurface at any moment now, you know that you're not just riding because your cousins made you. It's something else. Something la...

an admission, and an SOS

Hello dear reader. Before you proceed any further in my blog, I have something important I really need to tell you. I'm not a fun person. I'm not interesting, or extraordinary, or anything . I'm the exact opposite of all that. I'm a very very very boring and unremarkable teenager. And no, I'm not being sarcastic, or even fishing for compliments. Because this is the truth. It's the reality of my life, and I thought that it just wouldn't be right leading you on. So, hello. My name is Aimee, nickname, Bea. I lead an uninteresting life for now, but I'm moving to Manila in a few weeks' time, so try checking this blog by then and maybe I'll have something even remotely stimulating to offer you guys. . . . If you're wondering, by the way, what took me so long to "come out of the boring closet," well it's just that in the past two days I've gotten two invitations to go to the movies in Limketkai Mall. One from my friends from the R...

OrSem! OrSem! OrSem!

Wow. I am SO excited for the Freshmen Orientation Semianar (OrSem) that I can't type straight! SERIOUSLY! I have to keep pressing backspace because of all these spelling errors! My awesome friend Ariane (I mentioned her in a previous post ) gave me this link to the OrSem website , and now that I've viewed it, I'm so giddy and excited and prone to typos!!!! This year's OrSem, entitled "ZOOM", portrays college life as another roll of film in your photo album of life; a plethora of fun-filled, life-changing experiences and memories. OrSem 2010 serves as the lens you need to zoom in. Break the ice and have a good time with our Group Dynamics sessions. Get to know more about the different buildings and locations in school as you hitch along our Campus Tours. Familiarize yourself with your course and envision your future with our Course and Departmental Talks. Be entertained as you watch this year's O-film and interact with your fellow TnTs. Last but not the le...

a nice litle fantasy

I have some really nice friends from Abba's Orchard and Xavier University High School who are going to study either in UP Diliman or ADMU. In Manila, we're all gonna hang out and be one happy family and live happily ever after. :) This was back during Rotary Youth City Council week. The best week of my senior life (n_n)

look at all the people

"In Kong Hua, you're a big fish in a little pond. In ADMU, you'll be a tiny fish in an ocean." - Mom In many ways, Kong Hua School is indeed a little pond . Population-wise, each level has more or less a hundred students. Multiply that by four and you've got roughly five hundred students in the whole high school, as opposed to Xavier University High School's whopping student population of... Well, I'd rather not do the math. I don't want to risk getting any wrong information published online again! (lame reference to: old article about Noynoy Aquino's girlfriend ) Anyway, in my school, everybody knows everybody. It's literally a world without strangers - and that's one of the things I love most about it! The faces I see as I walk through the hallways, those are the same faces I've been seeing around for more than thirteen years of my life (nope, I've never, ever transferred schools). Sure, classmates and schoolmates come and go, but...

Candy, and random picture of the day #3

Image
... Lately I've been spending a lot of time online on the forums of Candymag.com. It started out as a way to promote this blog (lame, I know), but now I'm getting really hooked! Some of the girls on Teentalk (that's what the Candy forums are called) are just sooo nice. I met a lot of girls who are going through the same thing I am - being "from the provinces", as Ateneo puts it, and going to study in Manila. I've even been making dorm plans with two of my new friends! Haha! Do I sound like a giddy little kid or what. :D Okay, time for a random picture! Boycott colored chicks. This picture was part of my campaign to stop the buying (and selling!) of colored chicks. Those poor little critters!
