watching movies

Quick post, since I've got a quiz to study for that's five chapters long. I've been watching a lot of films lately that I've actually been able to sit through. I must add that this is quite an accomplishment for me, since I've never really been able to finish films. Sometimes I space out and miss some important bit of story. Sometimes I just get bored and stop watching. I know, I suck. Here is a sideways tomato for you to throw at me. {( ) But hey. I think I have improved my attention span since. In the past fourteen days, for instance, I've seen The Motorcycle Diaries, Pokemon the First Movie (which I cried at yet again), Spirited Away, and Quiet City. Okay so that's not a lot. Gah. Forget it. I still suuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck. If you are like me and you need a little filmy guidance, you might want to refer to this list of films that I got from the Loyola Film Circle's bucketlist. (It's different from the one I posted previously.) The ones in...

first few days of school

Image
Man oh man it's been six days since my last update, which wasn't even a real update. Anyway check out these pictures that I totally neglected to upload! Look at that. Look at all those awesome pins I collected from the events I went to! They're from the Health Sci Society, Loyola Film Circle, Gabay, and the SOSE Sanggu. Sad thing is, apparently I forgot to take them down from the inside of my old closet in Room 202 when I moved into Room 2-I. Now that closet is gone, and so are my precious pins. *sigh of acceptance of loss* Okay, now look at this! It's a guitar pick which I so happily and passionately cut out from my old PMSA membership card (thanks for kicking me out of the org, yo). I drew Jules on it and gave it to him for his 18th birthday!  Speaking of birthdays! Meet the choir (sans Vera) that sang during Pat's surprise 18th birthday lunch. Awesome photo by the awesome Andy Europa.  Also speaking of birthdays! Look at this other awesome photo by Andy -...

hong kong and freshmen

Image
Prat Avenue. Our hotel was right across the lingerie bar that didn't make it to this photo. Just got back from Hong Kong. Woohoo! It was the first time I've ever actually been anywhere outside the Philippines, and what an awesome first time it was. I don't wanna go into the details right now, because a lot of what happened was stuff I doubt you'd be interested in (but if you are interested in hearing all these familial inside jokes that were only funny because we were delusional from the lack of sleep and all the walking, do get in touch and I can recommend a good psychiatrist for you). Sooooo no, this won't be a how-to-survive-Hong-Kong-without-a-tour-guide kind of post. It will, in part, be a hey-look-at-these-pretentious-and-hipsterish-pictures-I-took post. (click to enlarge the pretention) I call them pretentious because they're pictures that pretend to actually mean something when all they are are just... badly taken pictures (except for the one wit...

some pictures of summer

Image
I guess you can tell by the frequency of my posts that I have quite a lot of spare time on my hands now. And I just found out that I got exempted from my Psych finals! Woohoo! Now I have even more time to kill before my flight home next Thursday. I wish I didn't have to wait. I wish I could go home tomorrow. After all, I don't need to stick around for finals week anymore. I really miss home. And if you could see me right now you'd understand why. It's a Saturday night and the sequel to my summer vacation has just officially begun. I'm finished with Filipino (FOREVER) and I got good grades for my two summer subjects. And look how I'm celebrating: I'm all hunched up in front of my laptop in a corner of a dark dorm room, wishing I could go out somewhere, but it's raining and I don't have an umbrella and I don't really know where I can go at this ungodly hour (7:21 PM). Ugh. I'm sorry I'm being so whiny. Today wasn't as happy as most ...

summer updates

Sorry about not writing as much. I haven't been updating the Folio either, even though Cheryl, Jeth, and Sir Unsay have been doing wonderful, wonderful things on the site. Anyway. Friday-Sunday         I had a formation seminar (formsem) with the Loyola Film Circle (who shall henceforth be referred to as LFC)! Wooooo! We went to a resort in Calamba, Laguna. We talked about the org and I made new friends. Woo. It was a lot of fun. :) Buko tarts are awesome by the way. Monday        I went with some of the LFC team to shoot for the OrSem film. I was a personal assistant, which meant I basically just had to wipe sweat off the actors' faces in between takes. Also, I was in charge of handing the actors the clothes that they needed for that particular take. Oh, and I had to make sure everyone had food and water.      It was such an awesome experience. I've always wanted to see what it wa...

Under the Stars

Okay, last night was one of the best nights of the year. SRSLY. I'm still a bit hungover from the awesomeness of last night (and this morning) and I'm too lazy to write coherent paragraphs. So instead, I will resort to the greatest thing ever invented in writing: bullet points! Oh, but before I do, I guess I should take the time out to explain about Under the Stars for the benefit of the portion of my readership outside of Ateneo (that portion being comprised entirely of my parents, and possibly my sister). See, Under the Stars is this annual event organized by the Loyola Film Circle (which I'm an active member of!) where lots of people gather at a grassy field in Ateneo and lie on mats or blankets to watch a movie under the stars. There's also beautiful Christmas lights, band performances, student films, and a bazaar. It's a really big event where lots and lots of people come. However, this year, I'm guessing the numbers might have decreased because of ...

LFC stuff

Image
Huge news. Ate Fel from the Loyola Film Circle actually asked me to be the project head for the next Kapelikula  (<-- click that link to see how the last one went)! To be honest, it was the moment I'd been looking forward to ever since I heard of the LFC in the first place. Not exactly heading Kapelikula, but at least taking charge of an LFC project. Any LFC project. That's the dream. But because I remembered that this semester involves Math 20.3 with a legendary teacher, I opted to become assistant project head (if there is such thing) instead.  Oh, and hey everybody! Come to Under the Stars this December 3! :D <3

Kapelikula

Image
Checkitawt! That's me and Rap with Arnold Arre, director, illustrator, writer. He was the guest speaker at Kapelikula, a Loyola Film Circle event with free coffee, free donuts, and a ONE-ON-ONE SESSION WITH ARNOLD ARRE!!! Okay, I can't pretend like I'm a big fan of his, because before his name had ever come up at the Film Circle, I didn't know who he was or what he did. And to pretend like I AM a big fan of his would just be insulting to all his genuine fans who have read his work and watched his films. But anyway. He was a really nice guy. This one LFC kid actually asked Mr. Arre to draw him (the kid) on his(the kid's) copy of Mythology Class (the book), and he (Mr. Arre) happily obliged. . . . I was glad to have been able to play a part in this event, and not just as a participant, but also as the coffee-buyer. (proud face) Yeahhh. You heard me. I bought the coffee. That was all my doing. :D It wasn't easy, but I managed. How could I not, when the tremendo...
