hong kong and freshmen

Prat Avenue. Our hotel was right across the lingerie bar that didn't make it to this photo.

Just got back from Hong Kong. Woohoo! It was the first time I've ever actually been anywhere outside the Philippines, and what an awesome first time it was. I don't wanna go into the details right now, because a lot of what happened was stuff I doubt you'd be interested in (but if you are interested in hearing all these familial inside jokes that were only funny because we were delusional from the lack of sleep and all the walking, do get in touch and I can recommend a good psychiatrist for you).

Sooooo no, this won't be a how-to-survive-Hong-Kong-without-a-tour-guide kind of post. It will, in part, be a hey-look-at-these-pretentious-and-hipsterish-pictures-I-took post. (click to enlarge the pretention)

I call them pretentious because they're pictures that pretend to actually mean something when all they are are just... badly taken pictures (except for the one with the fish because I like how that turned out). But, like I learned from English class, nothing can ever not have meaning, i.e. anyone can add meaning to anything. So maybe pretentious pictures aren't that pretentious after all.

Some more pictures that I think are all right to post:

Which reminds me. I really need to bond with my new Nikon SLR, Cameron. Right now I can only dream of becoming half as good a photographer as my friends Andy, Kara, and Kitkat, who all probably don't know that I'm mentioning them in my blog. I'm creepy like that.

On a side note, all the above photos were taken with a Canon digital cam - easy peasy point-and-shoot stuff. Totally different from Cameron, because Nikon's a lot harder to use, and the default settings are rather... all righty. But I will learn the ropes sooner or later, and I shall prevail. *cue dramatic telenovela music and fade to black*

. . .

Anyway, a lot has been happening since I last posted. For one, June 9 marked a whole year of being an Atenean! Woohoo! It's also my block's anniversary (as well as all the other blocks').

Ren's awesome anniversary greeting. So many adorable inside references!
It's weird thinking I've only known these guys for a year. Feels like I've known them much longer than that. I would like to post a longer "I LOVE XX SO MUCH" rant right here but my brain's really worn out from all the travelling and I think it would be best to hold off until later when I'm feeling more... sane. Anyway, I love you guys!

Speaking of loving guys, I'm certainly loving the guys behind this amazing film:

OrSEM Film 2011 - Scott Pilgrim-Santos vs The World from Jio Igual on Vimeo.

IT'S THE O-FILM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It's one of the many reasons why you kids should join the Loyola Film Circle.

Speaking of kids, HOW WAS ORSEM 2011? :D All my friends who helped out with OrSem were really happy with the freshmen, saying they were all so hyper and such. Wooooo! WELCOME TO ATENEO! :D If you have any questions or if you need help with anything, you know who to call! *points to InfoDesk*

Kidding. You can talk to me. n_n Because I'm creepy that way. n_n

Anyhoo it's 2:07 AM, and class starts in less than six hours. My flight's still at 11 though, so I'll have to miss out on the first Chem lab session (which is, I think, when we'll be taking inventory of all the instruments we have in lab). I'M SO EXCITED TO SEE MY FRIENDS <--- sounds like Rebecca Black

Annnnnd I'm sad about leaving home.

Which reminds me. It's also been a year since I moved OUT of home. Hooray? I hope the probinsyano and probinsyana freshmen are doing all right. Francis and Chris who went to Kong Hua are one of those freshmen.* Jason, we should take them out to dinner some time with Raul and Bianca. n_n

So. How's everybody been? n_n

*OH GRAMMAR ;_; That's what you get for writing so early in the morning.
