that time of the year

Oh no. Oh no oh no oh no. It's happening again. It's that confusing time of the semester when you're so extremely close to the end but not quite there yet, and you still have the energy to study some more but it's becoming increasingly more difficult to pack any more knowledge into your goddamn summer-soaked brain. What little room in there that you had reserved for thesis statements and formulas and stupid philosophical statements is now slowly filling up with thoughts of seawater, sand castles, and cities that start with the letter B (Batangas, Boracay... Seriously guys, there are other vacation spots out there !). Yes. It's that time of the year. My next (and last) exam is happening on Thursday, which means I have one and a half days to prepare for it.  So now I'm looking at my notes and trying to read them, and I'm telling myself, "It's just a review of what you already know!" But in my mind, no more gears are shifting. No more whee...

really short posts

Hi. I know it's sem break and I have absolutely no excuse for my absence online, but I wanted my "official" sem break post to be one with pictures from all the awesome stuff my blockmates and I did after the finals. So far not a lot have been uploaded, so I won't talk about that for now (but if you're really that interested in those events, give Rap's blog a visit).     Sem break isn't as boring as before. Lots of weird business stuff to do. A costume party to prepare for. Two Nancy Drew games to finish . A cheap, comfy condo to dream about moving into.    Anyway. Earlier I went to visit my cousin's 1-month-old baby, Zac, and he was so tiny and little and small and young. @o@ I feel so old now. I just want to freeze time and stay eighteen always. *knocks on wood*    That's becoming a weird anxiety with me now. I seem to have this fear of growing old(er). It may be a cliche, but I really don't want to grow up. Even though it sounds we...

schedule, and amazing news

So today was enlistment for freshmen. I got fencing as my PE! Not bad, I think, considering I was in the last batch, and people from the last batch hardly ever get any good PE's. So, anyway, onto the good news: My mom called the BPI Foundation earlier and told them what my QPI was, and they said that it passes their requirements for my scholarship! In other words, I still have my scholarship, which means - I'M STAYING FOR TWO MORE SEMS!!! Oh, praise God. I'm so extremely happy right now, you have no idea. You have no idea. :D

doing nothing

I'm too lazy to write anything coherent right now, so enjoy   stare at this picture I randomly pulled from my "Block XX" folder: (click to enlarge!) . . . I really miss my block! :'( Above is one of my favorite pictures of us, taken by Ate Pia (I think) at the first general assembly we ever attended - the Health Sciences Society's High ! I love it because we all look so happy and crazy and loony balloony :D

sem break so far

I guess that I should be updating this blog more often, now that it's sem break and all, and the Internet connection at home is a bajillion times faster than the lame SmartBro plug-in I use in Manila. But the thing is, there's nothing much going on in my life right now that anybody would really want to hear about. For example, would you really be interested in knowing that for my first week home, my siblings and I are devoting our vacation time to finishing three titles in the Nancy Drew PC game series? Or that I haven't been out with my friends at all, and that the first time I've seen any of my classmates so far was today (four days into sem break), by the sheer coincidence that they were playing basketball at school while I was picking up my brother? Naw. Didn't think so. But I guess I should elaborate more on that last part. See, if you haven't already guessed by the depressingly tremendous amount of time I spend on the Internet, I'm quite the home...

exploration

Friday (which was yesterday) marked the beginning of sem break for me. Officially, though, my last test of the sem ended at 7:30 on Thursday night, so I guess you could say my sem break started then, but I had been too depressed from English work to do anything besides curl up in front of my laptop and eat chocolate.         Yesterday, however, I woke up feeling quite chipper. I had made plans to wake up at 5 and go walking around Ateneo, exploring those places I'd made mental notes to check out during the semester. However, I wasn't able to sleep until 3 AM - probably because of the chocolate. So instead, after waking up at 10, I decided to go settle some unfinished business. B-) (No, just kidding. I didn't do anything cool that morning.)       So first I went to settle this hold order that I just discovered I had in my AISIS. It was from the Associate Dean of Student Affairs. When I saw it, I panicked, thinking ...

last friday of the sem

I'd always counted on my cellphone to wake me up every morning by playing some Manila radio station at precisely 6:30 AM, but for four days this week I found myself scrambling out of bed around 7:15. Rather than pin the blame on my phone's not going off, I have a feeling that I just sleep through the radio alarm when it comes on. That would explain why, when I was dreaming once about being in my lola's house in Cagayan, that infernal Korean song "Gee" started playing out of nowhere. And, yes, much Korean-style dancing was involved.        Today was different. The alarm ring tone was "Miracles Happen", by Myra, and from the moment I was able to separate my eyelids, I knew it was gonna be a good day. For one thing, today was the last Friday of the sem. And, for another, today was our last English 12 class!!!!!!! (Under normal circumstances, I would add thirty thousand more exclamation points to my previous sentence. However, today do...

3-Peat

My Countdown Countdown SEM BREAK'S COMING!!! Can you tell by the huge and gay countdown timer at the top of this post? It's only TWO WEEKS AWAY!!! Goodbye Manila and hellooooo SUBIC! (please) In other news, ATENEO WINS! It's a three-peat! I'd never paid much attention to UAAP games before, but when you're studying in Ateneo, you just can't help but embrace the sports culture. The campus itself is decked out in posters of the basketball players wearing Nike and tarps saying "GO ATENEO BLUE EAGLES!". Even the teachers suspend their consultation time to watch games. In other, other news, I just took what is probably the worst test of my life last night, Mr. Pulan's notorious English 12 critical thinking exam. Ugh. Worst. Test. Ever. I guess that just goes to show what a critical thinker I am. Hurrr durrr. Twilight is better than Harry Potter, durrrr.
