Happy New Year

One day during my Christmas break, my mom, while digging through a bookshelf, came upon my high school Retreat Journal. Some explanation: a Retreat Journal is the final, most cumbersome requirement that a senior Kong Huanian must submit in order to graduate. Any regular senior, on the delightful fringes of a final semester in Kong Hua, would ignore the whole thing and choose instead to focus his attention on more important matters (like wooing second-year Chinese girls). But I was nerdy, and I was "passionate," and I just had to take my journals seriously.        It's amazing, how much I have changed since then. Reading my journal felt like reading a fanfiction about my life; the characters were the same, the setting was the same, but the author was a different person entirely.        And 2010 Me sounds like a total douchebaguette . She wrote about how she was "a fighter", about how she fought for "environmentalism"...

tikoy and books

Happy Chinese New Year everyone! :D It feels weird having done nothing especially Chinese today, other than eating yummy tikoy courtesy of the amazing  Tin  (who, by the way, would make a totally awesome sophomore Executive Officer for SOSE)! I remember last year, Kong Hua School (my alma mater) went all-out for Chinese New Year. There were free dumplings, egg rolls, and tikoy! Red-and-gold banners were hung from end to end in the Gym, and the entire student populace went to class wearing red.      Ahh, high school. I heard they just made Mandarin classes a requirement this school year. Phew. I graduated just in time then.     This week has been really lazy, even if we did have a long test in Chemistry (which I studied really hard for!). Fencing was cancelled yesterday, and so was Chem. This morning we had a pretty awesome time in the lab, testing for anions and such, and then for Filipino we watched this extreme...

pre-pizza party pensiveness

Hello, my five readers. I swear I've got a New Year's post in my Drafts box just waiting to be published, but I thought that tonight I'd defer from that; something else came up that I want to write about. I'm going to be seeing my high school classmates later (pizza party at my house! U jelly, Block XX?), and by "later", I mean after I finish writing this, getting some sleep, cleaning the house, and attempting to make myself look presentable. Yeahhh. I'm never one to organize gatherings, but around Christmas time I felt like I'd been neglecting my old friends. My mom wasn't too keen on letting people see what a mess our house was (is), but I promised I'd spiffy the place up myself. And so, my parents gave me the go signal. I think that they think I need to get out more. I hate to admit it, but I think one of the reasons it took me so long to meet up with my old friends was that I didn't want them seeing how much weight I had gained. I...
