HNY 2017

     Happy New Year y'all!

It's been quiet here for the longest time, mainly because I've sort of been more active on Instagram. It's honestly just a lot easier to micro-blog than to, you know, blog blog.

But anyway, thanks to a gentle push by Rap, here I am on Blogger.

How has your break been? Mom's been cleaning out her massive store of clothes at last, so I've mostly been sifting through piles of clothes from the 90's. Thankfully ribbed clothes and crop tops are in again, so a lot of my mom's old clothes are now old enough to be "vintage" cool. I think.

I'm on the fence about this particular top though. (Ignore the ghost shorts please.)

I asked my sister if I could pull it off, and she said "Yes, if you don't care about how you look." :I

Dad said, "It sends a message." I asked him, what message? He said, "It says, 'I'm retro.'" :I

Rap said it looks nice though, so I'm just gonna keep it for now and see if I ever get the courage to wear it.

. . . . .

Yaya Grace has gone home for the holidays, so our past meals have consisted of roast chicken take-out from The Barn. Today though, I'm trying my hand at cooking. I'm "making" peri-peri chicken, with quotation marks because I'm really just cooking chicken in store-bought Nando's sauce. Such a lifesaver you are, Nando! I'll update this blog with pictures of the food as I prepare it.

Update 1: Chicken is marinating with Nando's Peri-Peri Sauce in Lemon & Herb.

Update 2: Into the tiny oven they go, after 45 minutes (1 hour dapat but my dad can't wait that long for lunch)

Update 3: Taking them out to turn them and baste the other side. (Actually, when I took it out of the oven, this weird liquid had accumulated at the bottom of the pan?! My dad drained it and then I took this picture.)

Update 4: Looking nice and toasty in the oven after one more baste (with oil this time)!

Update 5: The chicken came out looking quite dry, but when I tasted it it was just right. Yay! Also, in all my excitement over making something that was actually edible, I forgot to snap a picture of the finished product. Oh well. My family liked it! Yehey!
. . . . .

I'm not much of a cook, but my confidence has been boosted by a little cooking session I had with Rap last month. Rap is a natural cook, and I learned a lot under his tutelage. I was able to scrape up a little pesto penne, pan-fried butter chicken, and a Greek salad.

So yay! I'm confident with my chicken-cooking skills now. Cook skill level up!

On my next post, I'll blog about the spring cleaning my mom's been doing. We have some pretty interesting finds! Happy New Year, all! :)

  1. Hello! I'm a high school senior, and I would want to ask you what would be the best pre-med course for me. Only lately did I realize that I wanted to take up medicine, and because of that all the college courses I applied to are business-related. I would shift no matter what school I choose (into a pre-med course). I am considering Ateneo BS HSc and UST Medtech, I already passed the ACET and I'm waiting for the results for the USTET. What do you think is the "better" course?

    1. Depends what you want, really. Of course I'm biased towards Health Sci. It gives you training in public health while also covering the necessary hard sciences such as physiology.

I don't really know what MedTech is like so I can't say much about it! My limited knowledge on it is that it trains you to become a med tech, knowing how to carry out lab procedures like stool culturing and blood counts.

I really can't say which is better, since I haven't experienced MedTech personally. :)
