dinosaurs
Blogging again to maximize the remaining time I have with the awesome wi-fi here at home.
I'm going back to Manila tomorrow. I'm gonna wake up at four in the morning and endure an hour-twenty-minute flight, hopefully arriving just in time for my swimming class at 10.
Let me seeeee, what else. I have Economics homework I haven't done, a Statistics exam on Thursday, and then German and Biology exams on Friday. Why have I not done any work this weekend?
Oh, right. Because I am a lazy bum. Oh well.
I'd been excited to see this exhibit called Dinosaurs Alive! ever since I heard about it in December, but I was bummed to find out that I wouldn't be around when they came to CDO. Two months later and surprise surprise, the weekend of the show happens to be a long holiday for Ateneo! Woohoo!
Today, my parents said that we wouldn't be going to the show because so many people said it sucked. But Iforced coerced my family into going anyway, just for the heck of it. And I'm really glad we did, because the exhibit was pretty darn awesome.
There were huge robotic dinosaurs that moved just like actual dinosaurs (or at least, how I imagine them to move). They roared and blinked and flailed their arms and everything. Very very cool.
A lot of people felt like the exhibit was a rip-off though. P370 gets you entrance into the Limketkai Atrium where you're free to walk around, take pictures, and of course, read the signboards (WHICH NOBODY DID). Well what were you expecting, people?
My only complaint is that there weren't enough dinosaurs to see. I can just about name most of the dinosaurs that were there (Apatosaurus, Stegosaurus, Velociraptor, Pterodon, Triceratops, TRex) and when I am able to remember names of things, you know something's up. In fact I think that even the owners of the exhibit sensed how bitin it was and so decided to remedy it with this:
Yes. Cardboard cutouts of some popular dinosaurs. After Littlefoot came Barney and his other dinosaur friends whose names I have forgotten. (B.J. and Baby Bop) The last one was Fred Flintstone's dinosaur whose name I have forgotten for real. I guess it wouldn't have been as lame if these cutouts had been placed at the exit or entrance of the exhibit, away from the awesome robotic dinos. But nooo, they were placed right across the T-Rex robot.
Anyway, I had a lot of fun. After taking enough pictures and reading enough signboards, we plopped our butts down on some stairs and ate gelato from Missy Bon Bon.
After that we drove down to Sentro to have my before-I-leave-for-Manila dinner. We always make it a point to eat somewhere proper, but tonight we felt like staying home and watching a movie. So we ordered some take-out from McDonald's and finished The Cat Returns.
The movie is all sorts of strange, charming, and funny. Emphasis on the "strange." It's one of the most unsettling cartoons I've seen to date, and it's not even meant to be that way. I recommend you watch it just to see what I'm talking about.
And that just about sums up my night. Time to sleep. See you tomorrow, Manila.
