Mask from hell

Today I interrupt my Baguio series to dabble in skincare reviewing! Yes yes I know most of you guys are about ready to stop reading at this point BUT YOU MUST CONTINUE READING FOR I HAVE SOMETHING VERY IMPORTANT TO SAY. And that Very Important Thing is this: Watsons' Blackhead Removing Mask sucks.    Big time . Okay so it wasn't that important but hey at least I got your attention. I am, by no means, a skincare expert. However, I am an average human being, and I can attest that by normal human being standards, everyone should just stay clear of this 139-peso waste of money. Unless given as a gift for someone you low-key despise, say for example, a certain tita who never fails to comment on your weight every single time you visit during the holidays. Moving on! I must point out that I didn't plan on doing a review on this, I just really wanted to try it out for fun but then ended up hating the product so much. Essentially I tried the mask on first and then d...

This week was wonderful partly because it was punctuated with two holidays. You know how, when you're driving in the middle of a crazy downpour and the rain is just so noisy on the roof of your car that you can barely hear yourself think, when you go into a tunnel everything just becomes so suddenly still and quiet? And when you drive out the end of the tunnel, the rain comes crashing down again on your roof. Those two days were like being in the tunnel: sudden, temporary, silence.       And thank God that there isn't an exam to study for on Monday, because now I can spend my weekend gathering my bearings instead of scrambling to memorize names of enzymes and co-enzymes.        Not that the workload this week has been particularly hectic. I mean it is, of course, but it's also very fun. On Friday, we had small group discussions (SGD) about the case of a young 12-year-old male named JVC. When the case came out on ...

Giant monsters and giant robots. We get it already.

I just got back from Eastwood with Rap where, obviously, we watched Pacific Rim. Rap has been excited about this movie ever since he first heard of it because 1.) it has giant robots 2.) it has giant monsters and 3.) it has Charlie Day. And for me, my first thoughts after seeing the trailer were 1.) that it was just another robot movie 2.) that it was just another monster movie and 3.) that Rap would want to see it. Okay, I'm really tired from a day of Physiology so I'm just gonna cut to the chase. If you haven't seen the movie yet, proceed with caution because I'll be posting spoilers. Oh wait, there can't be any spoilers because the plot is predictable as hell. But more on that later. THE GOOD: It's directed by Guillermo del Toro of Pan's Labyrinth fame. By this fact alone, it follows that... The visuals are amazing. Everything looked real, and the little details that were put into the movie were perfect. The robots aren't shiny and new; th...

Food review: Chub's Diner, CDO

omething I often joke about is my ridiculously low standard for food, or my inability to distinguish a gourmet meal from five-peso siomai sa kilid kilid. I remember when Rap and I ate some microwaveable pizza (that we had used as a prop in this video).  Even after we had heated it up, it still had a stiff crust, tough meat-like particles, and bland cheese. Simply put, it tasted really cheap. But I still liked it, even though Rap said it tasted like Freon . I didn't understand what he was talking about, because I'd never tasted Freon in my life. The pizza tasted pretty good, like a less delicious version of the pizza I used to buy from across school when I was a kid.          I will never forget the look of horror on Rap's face as I reached for another slice.          But as messed up as you may now believe my taste buds to be, they're actually not that far gone. Believe it or not, I actually do have som...
