adulting with Anna and Janine

10:30 pm. Just got back from a night out with my friends Anna and Janine, whom I only get to see during my vacations when I'm back home in CdO. Yes, I'm home at 10:30 PM. None of our get-togethers have ever ended this late. I know, it's very grade school. But this is how my high school barkada has always been: super innocent and holy. Not being sarcastic, I really mean it. With Manila friends, it's considered quite normal to have a beer or two and come home at 12. But when I'm with Janine and Anna, we just have Coke and come home early. We've never had any alcohol (as a group) and we never stay out past 9 (tonight was the exception). It's pretty incredible how even though we're all adults, we still behave like a bunch of grade schoolers. And to be honest, that's what I like about hanging out with them. Tonight, we met up at GC Suites and grabbed some 678 Chicken, had Korean ice cream at the movie place upstairs, and then walked a ...

#1: Lolwhut . Chick lit is a real genre now? . . . #2: My guitar of five years finally bit the dust today. I have no idea why, but when I picked it up this morning from its usual place behind the mirror, its bridge was already snapped off and the strings dangling out of place.   Aasdfkj asolfjwoijsld; sakj fw ;.  My mom says I can buy a new one here in Manila, but I'll go take it to a repair shop before I even begin to think about replacing it. We've been through so much! :'( And now for a little nostalgia: The guitar was actually a present from Santa Claus back in the December of 2005. It was a gift meant for all of us kids, but I, being the most musically inclined in the family (and also the most talented and probably the smartest), took to learning the guitar in the summer of 2006.  When I became a freshman in high school, I brought the guitar with me a lot, and whenever I did, my friend Marc Paul (whom I mentioned in another guitar-related post and is probabl...

You know how you can password-protect Word files? Well, I keep a file like that in my laptop to use as a virtual diary. I've been writing in it since the summer of 2009. I mention this because I was going over my old entries yesterday, and I remembered how apathetic I had become during my last year of high school. Take for example this snippet I found, dated Thursday, August 20, 2009, 10:25 pm: My life is so bleak. I wish I could just break away from all of this, you know? Break away... Unhinge myself from this bleakness that I seem to be so lost in. Somehow I wish  I could go somewhere to get lost. To wander around. To find myself. And when I come back, I'll be refreshed and shiny and new again. Not like what I am now: so dull. So normal. So... jaded? God. SO BLEAK. So bleak I can’t stand it anymore.  I HAVE NO LIFE. Seriously. It’s all just Facebook. It's all just school, and homework, and endless sleep, and unfulfilled dreams. For reasons I can't divulge on the In...
