time management
Oh boy. I've got a lot of things on my plate this week. And, thanks to my amazing time-management skillz, I am devoting an unhealthy amount of time and energy into the least important thing on my To-Do list: making a video for a friend. Gahhh.
I've got a four-page paper on Philippine signs due tomorrow. And then there's secret practice. And then a Fil paper about Maximo Oliveros.
Ugh. If I'm gonna live to see myself in Manila for my sophomore year I'm really gonna have to stop procrastinating, like I am right now.
So anyway. How was my week, you ask? Well...
Monday
Patigasan with the Health Sciences Society! (I already wrote about this in my previous entry. It has lovely pictures in it. Scroll down to see it, if you like.)
Tuesday
I was sore all over. My athletically-challenged body just wasn't (isn't) used to any physical activity beyond leisurely walking.
I was also scared because I had neglected to read the assigned essay for Filipino (my excuse: my arm was too weak to hold up a book), and we were supposed to have a quiz. It's a good thing Sir Aris, our new Fil teacher with a cool palindromic name, asked mostly "stock knowledge" questions. It was not an open-book quiz, by the way. Just saying.
Then most of my Fil block (my regular block, Block XX, has been divided into three Fil sections, so we aren't all classmates anymore - my section's called KKK!) headed to the Old Rizal Library to attempt to complete Sir's Ukay-Ukay Challenge, wherein we ukay the library to find the answers to the sets of questions he gave us.
One of the questions required us to find out what movie premiered the day we were born. We went to the microfilm section, where you can view newspapers from the days of yore as images on reels of film. I checked out reels of newspaper from my birthday, but to my disappointment, no Filipino movie opened then (which is sad, because I was born on a Wednesday). Nothing of interest happened that day too. Here's the front page of the Philippine Daily Inquirer:
Pat, however, did manage to find this very interesting cellphone ad printed on her birthday:
Wednesday
Nothing much happened today. I did get an A in our Chemistry long test, thank you Lord.
After math, we went back to the Old Rizal Library to answer more Ukay-Ukay questions. I found reels of La Solidaridad!
Thursday
For Chemistry lab, we were supposed to make buffers from vinegar and sodium hydroxide. I was in a chipper mood at the start of the experiment because I was pH Meter Girl (why does that sound feminine wash-related?), which meant I was in charge of reading the manual of the machine used to measure the pH of solutions.
After that though, my functional value plummeted to that of the "Transportable!" 1993 phones as Rap and I were reduced to Clean-Up Crew. Cheryl and Micha solved and calculated and did all the analytical thinking, mostly instructing us what to do, and I felt like the Igor to their Frankenstein. (I JUST REMEMBERED ONE THING TO ADD TO THE TO-DO LIST! OUR FORMAL ("FML") LAB REPORT! AHHH!!!!)
That afternoon, my English block met at Matteo, the study hall, for some discussion regarding our upcoming play for our Literature subejct. It felt weird seeing us all together like that outside our classroom in Bellarmine (and free from the gaze of our beloved Panopticon-like teacher Mr. Pulan). I'm gonna really miss our block next year. I'm gonna miss English. I will most especially miss Lit. ;_;
Friday
Mr. Pulan said the most wonderful words in class today as we were about to wrap up our lesson about King Lear: "We'll soon return to poetry." YAY!!!
Then I went to an LFC screening of "Wanted: Border" and was perplexed by it. In hindsight, it was a good movie. Some parts were pretty dragging though. Why is indie cinema always like that? They stretch out three-second events into three minutes of screen time. (Also, after the screening, Jules said that he was going to make his own indie film.)
That night, my two friends had a poetry-off, which is a poetry contest wherein the winner is decided by Facebook vote. You can check out their poems here: http://www.facebook.com/notes/aimee-co-capinpuyan/poetry-off/10150128157595115?notif_t=like
The voting ends Monday, and the winner gets a sandwich made by the loser. Do check that out and vote! :)

Oh yeah. And it's Valentine's Day tomorrow. I'll be spending it with my beloved Block XX. We're having a picnic! It's always comforting to know I'm not alone in my singleness. :))
If it's not open book. Why give page numbers in the first place? :| also, don't forget that we have an internet challenge pa..unless that's the fil paper you're talking about. which i hope is the case because i do not know of any such paper... this spit is bananas.

ReplyDeleteWendy: Thank you! n_n
ReplyDeleteAnonymous who used inappropriate language: Yeah. Internet thing is this week pala. Not the paper. If only my partner wasn't as linguistically-challenged in Fil as I am. :))
