April and May

I don't really have anything to write about, but I just feel like I should say something because I don't want my most recent post to be about something that happened more than a month ago. So what's been happening in my life? Well, for starters... Leyte happened. I went on a five-day immersion with a bunch of other Health Sci batchmates. I don't really want to talk about what happened there. And I probably never will post online about it. So, yeah. Sorry. On a lighter note, Rap and I are now two years old. Well, two years and a month, to be exact. We celebrated at A Veneto Pizzeria, an Italian restaurant along Visayas Ave. It's a really fancy name for such a normal-looking store. The food was A+ though. We got some pizza and a sinfully cheesy lasagna, pictured above.  Delizioso! The pictures above were taken on a day where 140 farmers from Casiguran came to Ateneo for a forum or something. The night before, the organizers noticed that a few of...

interesting things

I know I haven't been posting as often as I did when I was a freshman. I guess it's because I've actually made some friends now, and am less of a self-absorbed loser. (Yeah, right.) . . . Interesting Thing #1 SPONTANEOUS SHOOTING Last Wednesday, I tagged along with Vito, Diane, Rap, and Andy for an impromptu filming of a top-secret project (you'll know what it is soon). We had to wait until 6 at night to shoot, because we wanted some darkness. I brought my camera so that I could practice using it (I still haven't gotten the hang of it after a year). Here are some pictures (unedited because I'm too lazy). Rap with a Blizzard (and an ice cream sandwich for me). He looks so dangerous. Night classes JSEC at night A little part of Katipunan (taken from the back of Vito's pickup). A behind-the-scenes of the actual filming It was a pretty cool experience, even if the shoot ended a little early. I'm still a really bad phot...

nearing freedom

THE END IS SO NEAR. VACATION IS FIVE DAYS AWAY. And instead of devoting my last breaths as a Sophomore to mind-numbing, mega intense studying, here I am in an uncomfortable sitting position in my swelteringly hot dorm lobby, absorbing Wi-fi from the restaurant next door. I don't know why I do this to myself.  Anyway, my life has been a flurry of activity in the past few weeks, starting with my roommate Jean and I finally closing the deal on this new condo unit we'll be living in, starting May.  This is an old ad. We've found our two roommates already! (And I just noticed the typo.) I'm pretty excited. I can't wait to start moving in my stuff. I'll finally be able to eat at an actual table!  Oh yeah, speaking of housing matters, a good number of people have been asking me about dorm recommendations. Sadly I have only ever lived in Dormitoryana, which means I cannot give a fair review about other places. So if you still want to know what it's like here, ...

Leadership and Strategy

I'll just cut the usual "I'm so sorry I haven't been updating" blather, because I HAVE BEEN BUSY AS HECK and I don't need to apologize for that. If anything, the universe should apologize to me for taking away my free time!!! Kidding. Please don't smite me and take my food :c Last Saturday Instead of NSTP, I  went with my friends Jules and AC to an event called Celebrate Life Program, organized through a partnership between Kythe Ateneo and Musikero  (<-- click that!). We went to the children's cancer ward in a public hospital somewhere in Quezon City and we put on a musical skit for the kids. I had a pretty tiny role in the story; all I had to do was play the guitar when it was time for the main characters to sing. But I loved my part thoroughly. When we started performing, a lot of the kids didn't bother with what we were doing, but a few of them were very enthusiastic about participating. They volunteered and exclaimed and everything! W...

post V-day blogging II

Econ test tomorrow, doing nothing today. Ehh screw it. My teacher's not gonna give me a good score anyway. So here I am, blogging~ Here's a little recap of the week: Tuesday I thought I had prepared really well for the Statistics exam. But... no. u_u Also, Rap got me a nice edible flower for Valentine's. n_n It's still here, just slightly nibbled on because I wish to preserve it. Andy got all the girls in Bio class (even our teacher, Ma'am Canlas) a nice, long-stemmed rose. Aww. I used to think that Valentine's Day was stupid, and that if you really loved somebody, you would show it to them every day of the year as opposed to every Feb 14. But on this day, all around the campus you could see all sorts of grand gestures of love - public serenades (there was even one that I actually participated in ahihihihi. You're welcome, Karl.), giant bouquets, boys dressed in suits and girls wearing pretty dresses. While seeing them doesn't actually make me f...

NSTP

Image
You won't believe what happened to me yesterday. Halfway to Bagong Silang, for NSTP, our jeep started making a weird, sputtery noise - the kind that healthy jeeps are not supposed to make. We pulled over somewhere next to an open field, and our driver went down to investigate what the problem was. He popped open the hood of the jeep and, to our surprise (and delight, and horror), he pulled out a little cat, mewling and appearing relatively unharmed by its short trip under the hood. Instead of releasing the kitty into the field we had stopped at, we let it stay with us the rest of the trip. Hours later, after our insertion, we found the kitty sleeping peacefully underneath the seats. We left it in its state of cat-slumber. About twenty minutes into the trip, however, we decided we were too hungry. So we pulled the jeep over, popped open the hood, and using the hot machinery, made ourselves a nice kitty meal. Just kidding. That never happened. I just needed an interesting first par...

Yay! Things are finally happening in my life again. Monday  For my PE (swimming) we had a diagnostic test to see how many strokes we could swim. The diagnosis was done individually, so most of the period was spent waiting for my turn with the teacher. It was pretty awkward in the beginning, since it was the first meeting in which we would actually get to swim (the previous one was spent on lectures). It was awkward because there were only ten of us in class, all female, but you could tell that we were all shy about our bathing suits and such. When we got into the pool, the water was FREEZING. It probably would have been refreshing if it were a hot summer day, but it was in the middle of November! My classmates and I spent a really long time just huddled together in one corner of the huuuuge pool, shivering and shy. Eventually as more and more people got called on for the diagnostic swim, we broke out of the huddle and got around to practicing our strokes. Here I realized ...

So I told myself that I'd keep writing in this despite all the work I have for school, BUT IT WAS AN EMPTY PROMISE. Sorry. Allow me to explain. I've been doing editing work for the Health Sciences Society, as well as for a new YouTube channel that will (hopefully) be updated weekly. (Click to go to  our latest episode .) (EDIT. THAT'S A WRONG LINK! CLICK HERE FOR REAL! ) HEALTH SCI MAJORS! Preorder your tickets! :) (cheaper by 20 bucks :>):  http://tinyurl.com/hsschil ls NOW for some past events that I'm too lazy to properly narrate! Block XX @ University Dorm roofdeck while waiting for Mariel to open her dorm window so that she may look out of it and see us waiting outside her dorm for her super special birthday SURPRISE! (c) Andy Europa After seeing us, Mariel took a picture of us with her camera and then rushed down to meet us. (She just had to do it the Mariel way.)
