Question of the Day: Would you bend down for Peter Dinklage?

I get asked a lot of interesting questions by friends and family. Just kidding. I don't. Today though I got a pretty interesting one from a friend, and I thought I'd share my two cents on the matter.

If you were to have your picture taken with Peter Dinklage, would you bend down for the picture or would you pretend like his height didn't matter? - Rap, 21

First of all, for those who don't know, this is Peter Dinklage.

He's an actor who has appeared in a bunch of movies that I don't particularly care for, like Elf . . .

No, he didn't actually play an elf.
. . . Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian . . .

where he played a short, blond Gimli
. . . and Underdog.
This movie sucks. Even though it has dogs in it.
He is, however, best known for his role as Tyrion Lannister on HBO's Game of Thrones.

Yeah. He's pretty cool. And HBO is definitely not replacing him with Professor Flitwick from Harry Potter

Anyway, getting back to the question, would I, given the privilege to have my picture with THE Peter Dinklage, bend down to take a picture with him? To do so might insult him and make him feel like a child. So should one just stand normally for that picture, should that golden moment arise?

Let's take a look at the people who were actually faced with this dilemma. First up, we have the non-benders:

Peter's wife, director Erica Schmidt.

Michelle Fairley (I think), the actress who plays Lady Catelyn on GoT.

This guy.
Now, how about the benders?

This lady.
William Mosley, Peter's co-actor from Narnia.
And as for the people who go halfway, the class that I like to call the leaners:

William Mosley again.
This person.
And for the non-conformists out there, there's the backwards bend (or backwards lean, whatever).

As you can see, the leaners look much more awkward and uncomfortable as compared to the benders or the people who stand straight. So leaning is definitely out of the question because it's going to make me look like an awkward fool in front of Peter Dinklage. But to stand straight might imply some disrespect towards  the man, considering that the people who get to stand straight next to him are the people who are (probably) already very close to Dinklage (like his wife, his co-star and that other guy).

So to answer your question Rap, I think the best way to go about this situation would be to bend down for Mr. Dinklage. And then bow to him and ask him to slap your face.

That's it for today's Question of the Day! See you next time something mildly interesting happens in my boring life. Drop a comment below if you have a question for me to answer.

  1. Hi! Another AdMU inquiry if you don't mind. :)) Which laboratory fees are needed for a BS HSc student? Bio/ES/Chem/Phy (Natural Science/Basic), TV or Radio Workshop (Comm), Deposit for Laboratory Breakage (Chem/Bio), Language Laboratory, Speech Laboratory, Computer Laboratory (Category IA, I, II, III)?

    1. Hi! I don't mind at all. Where did you find that list of labs? :))

A BS HSc student will be taking lab for Bio, Chem, and Physics. So presumably you'll need the lab fees for those, including the lab breakage fees.

We won't be using the speech, language, or TV/radio labs.

I used two computer labs. One was for Statistics, and one was for Computer Sciences class. So you'll probably be paying lab fees for those two. However, I don't know what categories they fall under :))

  2. There's a paper given after confirmation listing all the expenses for the first semester. I can't believe how much Ateneo wants from meeee. =)) jk. Seriously though, they charge a LOT. I'm doubting my choice to pursue Ateneo. :c

    1. The tuition really is hefty. Luckily there are several scholarship programs out there offered by Ateneo itself. Have you inquired? Other companies also offer scholarships (mine is from BPI) but they prioritize the children of their employees. :))

  3. I only know about the scholarship given by the Ateneo but the application ended last March and sadly, I wasn't informed that time. Ateneo wasn't one of my top choices since it's common knowledge that their tuition fee is just... too big. Do you know of any other scholarships? How do I apply for the BPI scholarship?

    1. To be a BPI scholar you definitely need to have a parent who is an employee of BPI :))

I don't know about the other scholarships but you can search for them online yourself. Here's a start: http://academic-clinic.com/2010/03/shopping-for-philippine-college-scholarships/
