A lot of my close friends are boys. Boys who like comic books. I hang around them a lot, and usually we talk about random things like physics and foreigners and lobsters having no pain receptors. We went to watch The Amazing Spiderman on a whim just recently. It was fun. Sometimes it's not so fun. I used to get a lot of sandwich jokes until those stopped being funny. Now I get "d'oh you're a girl so of course you hate comic books" jokes. I don't hate comic books. I love Neil Gaiman's Sandman . And Walking Dead, too. And Scott Pilgrim!!! But I don't read superhero comics. It's hard to be interested in them when most, if not all, of the superhero women 1.) have gigantic breasts, 2.) wear sexy clothing, and 3.) are always in stereotypically feminine poses. We quit our jobs and traveled to Japan!

Like I mentioned in my last post, I got married!!! However, because of this stupid capitalist system that prioritizes worker productivity over well-being, we didn't have enough leaves saved up to go on a long enough vacation. So, we did something kinda crazy... And quit both our jobs at the same time.  I know, I know, it's such a stupid decision to both quit at the same time. But really, if we hadn't done it, when would we ever   have had the time to just go travel and enjoy our lives?! I had already consumed all my vacation leaves by going on my wedding and then our hometown reception, and Rap's work as an infirmary doctor did not allow him to take more than a couple days off at a time.  So, we quit. And, using some of the money we got as gifts from our wedding, we were able to spend 12 amazing days in Japan. Here's what we did. I was reading Rap's blog  (<--- that is a link, go click it) and I was reminded of a conversation that I had with him and Jules yesterday, on the way to Ken Afford. See, there was supposed to be this huge street party over at the Ateneo dorms, but it was raining buckets so we ended up not going. The dormers, however, made the most of it by tossing away their umbrellas and partying in the rain. And so I asked my friends when was the last time they ever did something like that. Dancing in the rain. Dancing, and not just walking, be it alone or with friends. And now I can't help but ask, when was the last time you ever felt amazingly happy? Not just those brief, common "Oh, look, I found a shiny coin"-type of events, but those elsuive, genuine moments of pure ecstasy that can make people do cartwheels.
