going places (literally)

Super long weekend! Woohoo! A lot of my dormer friends actually went home. While I would've jumped on the first plane back to CDO had I the opportunity (and the great amount of strength that jumping on planes requires), the weekend in Manila wasn't too bad.       Saturday        On an impulse, I paid a visit to Cafe Xocolat, the inconspicuous little shop right across Box O' Rice, a few steps from my dorm. At the entrance, I was surprised at how un-cafe-like the store was. It looked a bit like my lola's house before it got renovated. Part of the cafe's charm, I guess, is that it used to be someone's actual home. The inside is wonderful as well, but I will not go into detail; you must visit it yourself. (Oh, and the food was delicious. A bit pricey, but worth it.) I wish I had taken more pictures, but I didn't wanna look like a cafe' n00b. Ugh. How pretentious of me :|        I finished reading...

the week you missed, now in bullet form!

April 22 Registered as a volunteer for PPCRV , or Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting, together with some of my classmates and schoolmates. Well, former classmates and schoolmates! April 23 Paid for a room at Dormitoryana , an all-girls' dorm across Ateneo . It's got an aircon , three beds and a view of Katipunan Avenue (can't say whether it's good or not; the windows weren't open). Found that one of my roommates is a fourth-year student taking up Industrial Engineering at UP Diliman ! I hope we get along well... Two words: Communal. Bathroom. Ugh! Two bathrooms, eight girls. Oh dear... Visited my college for the first time, and it's beautiful! Felt really good about going to Ateneo and thought that I can't feel alone when I'm studying there :) April 25 Learned how to ride an MRT ! Well, at least from Shangri -La up to Shaw Boulevard. April 29 Back home, safe and sound in Cagayan de Oro City (because I'm sparing you from the rest of...

the Missy Bon Bon experience

Image
Missy Bon Bon , a popular cafe/restaurant in Cagayan de Oro City, recently opened its main branch in Limketkai Mall, Rosario Drive. With a small but oh-too-cute booth in Robinsons Mall, the store had already captured the hearts (and stomachs) of me and my sister. So when Missy Bon Bon announced that they were awarding prizes to the first hundred people to visit when they opened on April 16 at 7 AM, we just knew that we had to be there! We woke up at 5:30 and got there by 6. Already the line was really long! I was #86 in line, and my sister was supposed to be #87, but she got pretty sick because she wasn't used to waking up so early (I know - what a wuss!) so my dad had to come back and pick her up. And, I SURVIVED! For two hours. I tell you, it got extremely hot at one point, I thought I'd pass out. But that's really nothing compared to what this Miko guy went through: I just found out by going to Missy Bon Bon's Facebook page that the earliest one, the lucky kid named ...
