How on Earth did I manage to make it into the Director's List? How was I able to pass the ACET? How did I even graduate high school? Myself, I am disappoint.

I know I promised a Batangas post (as if you really keep track of the things I promise), but in the past two days there have been about four people chatting me up on Facebook to ask about the NMAT. So perhaps this post would be of greater interest to the general public (as if I really care about the interests of the general public). I took the December 2012 NMAT (the earliest option for me) because my parents told me I should. They made me take it that early because they said it was to prepare me for the April 2013 NMAT, which I thankfully don't need to take anymore because I got a score of 99+. UERM med school interview

Three days ago, I took the train to UERM for my very first med school interview. I was not as nervous as I thought I'd be. My hands weren't shaking, my heart wasn't racing, and I wasn't sweating like a bag of ice cubes in the summer sun. Perhaps it was because I had spent a good amount of time that morning reading up on med school interview tips (link here ) and watching videos (click here ). I even dressed up in my best interpretation of a corporate outfit: a crisp polo , a black pencil skirt, and my old pair of flats. Other people didn't come in as formal-looking as I did. The girl who came before me in the interviews was wearing a blouse, khaki jeans, and closed shoes. I feel the need to point out these details because even though UERM didn't specify a dress code for the interviews, I feel like dressing up was a good idea. how i reached a decision

So this was my plan. It was so clear to me back then: If I don't pass the UPCAT, I'm going to XU. As for my choice of course, it was a toss-up between Computer Science and Biology. For me, getting to that point where I had only two courses to choose from was already a big accomplishment, considering that my previous list of course choices was anything but short. I had so many plans: take Political Science, proceed to Law and become a lawyer. Take something in communications like Journalism or MassCom and work in the advertising biz. I even considered going to Bigfoot Studios in Cebu and taking up Filmography! Filmography!!! My parents played a big role in my indecision. Being the awesome people that they are, they told me that they'd support me whichever school I went to, whichever course I decided to pick. There was no one around to tell me, "No you can't study in Manila," or, "You have no future in that course." In fact, not one little chuckle ...

Do you know how it feels when you're running a marathon, and you realize that you're almost at the finish line? Do you know what it's like to push yourself to run harder and faster - ignoring the frantic beating of your heart and the tiredness of your lungs - because you know that the end is only a few more breaths away? I've never run a marathon, so I wouldn't know! But right now, there are less than three weeks before the final exams. Figuratevely speaking, I can feel this run coming to a finish. I'm almost four weeks into my first ever job as a Doctor to the Barrio, and it's been an amazing ride so far. When I first found out about my assignment sometime in January, I was apprehensive. When you google Gigaquit, Surigao del Norte, there's not much information you can find. It's mostly just news articles about their recent spate of NPA attacks. As a baseline anxious person, I had a never-ending list of worries: What if I'm kidnapped? What if I'm killed? Or worse, what if there's no Internet??? I had no idea what I was getting into, and I would soon find out. 1. I'm a town celebrity - whether I like it or not.
