Date: idk anymore Time: who cares Mood: 5 out of 10 smiley faces I'm in between jobs right now. I've sent in my application to Doctors to the Barrios, but I probably won't hear from them until a month from now. So it's just a waiting game right now.  Been trying to snag a moonlighting gig but they go so quickly, what with all the new doctors also scrambling to get a job. The really juicy, high-paying ones are in places other than Metro Manila. It's making me slightly rethink my decision to stay in Manila versus moving back in with my parents in Cagayan de Oro. Then I remember those horrible bedbug bites I got from my previous two visits home and I just feel so relieved to be here. I may be unemployed and bored but at least I don't feel constantly itchy. I've moved out of Ortigas and back to Katipunan Avenue. I deeply loved Ortigas. And every day that we were together, I showed my appreciation for it. I spent many hours walking its clean, pav...

Pride and Prejudice obsession

Many years ago, I begged my mom to buy me this really big and heavy Jane Austen book. In my memory, this took place in the National Book Store at SM, but I don't know that for sure. My mom had hesitations about making the purchase since it was expensive, but when I explained to her that it was really a collection of 3 Austen novels ( Pride and Prejudice , Mansfield Park , and Persuasion ) and therefore worth the money, she acceeded to my demand request. So that night, I set to work trying to read the famed  Pride and Prejudice.  I was not a reader of classics, so I really wanted my first to be special. I affixed small, neon strips of paper next to sentences that I liked. Whenever I encountered an unfamiliar word, I looked it up in our big dictionary (yes, the old-fashioned way;  hindi pa uso ang Internet noon)  and wrote it down on a Post-It. Needless to say, it was the most effort I had ever  put into reading a work of fiction. Alas, my young and fee...

Hello! I've got a lot of cool stuff I want to blog about (Sagada, Cebu, Cagayan de Oro) but this post has been quietly sitting in my Drafts for some time, just waiting to be published, so I'll start with this.          In case you didn't know by now, a lot of colleges in the Philippines are shifting the academic calendar from June-March to August-May. Since Ateneo de Manila is one of those colleges, for the first time ever our year will start in August 2015, and our second semester will end in May 2016. Which means that basically everyone in an Ateneo de Manila school (from grade school to post grad) is going to get a four-month break this year! Well, except for the seniors who graduated this year, because they're headed straight for unemployment (mehehehe).            So if you asked anyone from Ateneo what they've been up to, likely you'll get an answer involving the word "bum." Sometime...

Rarely do I ever have a Saturday morning with nothing to do. Usually I have Epidemiology class with the rest of my batchmates. Today was an exception; Doc Wong gave us the day off to work on our thesis proposals. I think it was also his way of sparing us from the infamous ACET traffic jam. Okay it doesn't look too bad here. But it's pretty bad inside campus.        I thought I'd enjoy a morning off but surprisingly, I got bored pretty fast doing nothing in the condo. So I decided to go to school to return some overdue library books. (Okay, the real reason I went to school was to see the ACET takers. I thought it would be fun witnessing them go through the whole range of emotions as the day progressed - fear, relief, happiness, despair...)        Anyway, at the library, I chanced upon my two friends AC and Mike (who has been very supportive of me and my blog. Thanks Mike!!!). They had also ran into each other by...
